Activities

Guests at Mandinam are free to roam the estate's 450 acres of parkland and woodlands. The River Bran runs through, and can be fished.

For those wishing to visit gardens there are two notable gardens in the area. Aberglasney, known as a '"garden lost in time" is about ten miles away and The National Botanic Garden of Wales at Middleton Hall is about 12 miles away.

Other places to visit include the castles Carreg Cennen, Dynevor and Dryslwyn.

Llyn-y-fan Lake and Myddfai, once home to the Physicians of Myddfai, are nearby.

OTHER THINGS TO DO.

WALKING. There are four hundred and fifty acres to walk within the farm. We can supply comprehensive maps with landmarks for walks lasting from half to two and a half hours. For those who want to go further afield we are on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park

FISHING in the River Bran which runs through the farm, the river Towy and several local reservoirs and lakes.

ART WEEKENDS & WILDLIFE WALKS. Both of these can be offered with Marcus as facilitator. He studied art at Chelsea School of Art in the sixties and has a degree in Fine Art. He has held several successful exhibitions in Italy and Britain. He also has an extensive knowledge of the local flora and fauna and is happy to share his enthusiasm with visitors.

BIRD WATCHING. Our conservation policy means that there is a wealth of wild birds, including Hobbies and Hawks.

BAT WATCHING (and moths and butterflies). A visiting bat expert found eleven species of bats on the farm during nocturnal rambles. There are also diverse species of moths and butterflies.

WILDLIFE AND FLOWERS. With an enthusiastic and knowledgeable in house naturalist there is plenty of opportunity to se the local wildlife which includes badgers, otters, red kites, peregrines and goshawks.

COOKERY. Daniella specialises in breadmaking, and guests often like to have a session of baking during their stay.

EATING OUT. We recommend the Angel Inn, Salem (01588 823394) or Y Polyn, Llanarthne (01267 290000).

All in house activities are done in a lighthearted way and purely for enhancement and enjoyment.
